Dr. Brian Scholl is the chief economist and director of research at the American Institute for Boys and Men, where he leads research on economic mobility, financial decision-making, employment, evidence-based policymaking, and institutional design. He previously served as chief economist for the U.S. Senate Budget Committee during the recovery from the global financial crisis and was the founding chief economist of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Research. Scholl is an award-winning innovator in evidence-based policymaking and an active interdisciplinary researcher. His policy proposals have generated and continue to offer economic gains for millions of households.
His research has been published in journals including the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of the Association for Consumer Research, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. He holds a doctorate in economics and a master’s degree in statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree from Union College.
