Nagisa Tadjfar

Nagisa Tadjfar is a fifth-year Economics PhD student at MIT researching drivers of educational inequality. Her current projects focus on understanding how role models shape perceptions of elite universities and the equity and efficiency consequences of reduced standardized testing. As part of this work, Nagisa is conducting an RCT with high school students in the UK, offering in-person workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and subsidized university visits. This project examines whether underrepresented groups, such as rural men, lack a sense of belonging at universities, and how targeted mentorship and social exposure can raise university aspirations and enrollment.
